Hey guys,

Today, after playing multiplayer, I've got bored :) so I got idea to convert Arcanum.dat module for multiplayer... I know that there were some attempts to do that before, so I was wondering why nobody created that already.

So I extracted arcanum module, and then I've added mp.txt file, which says that its multiplayer module. After that I've created LAN game and started to play, so I was really surprised that its actually working....

But after I've got from crash site, and clicked on World Map, game crashed... so I said shoot, it needs to be fixed because World Map is "disabled" in multiplayer.

After few hours of searching, I've found out what needs to be fixed and I've actually already fixed that, so WorldMap is working now!!! yeah thats cool :D

So WorldMap is working, but what about fast travel? when you use that time will go faster... I did not tested, how fast travel affects other players, but I get idea, if fast travel will be affecting other players, I'll replace fast travel with teleport travel, which do not affect a speed of time in game! Cool?

Now next problem what I know about it that when you click on some passage or doors that loads new map, in multiplayer it will not work, so this needs to be fixed too.... How to do that? Manually it will take a months, so convert that, but because of my research, I know everything about sectors and maps, I'm going to write a tool that will convert that for me :)


When will be this module released? probably before end of next week, maybe sooner :)

If you know about any other problems that will be needed to be solved please let me know....

EDIT: After one day, I have successfuly made a tool for converting Arcanum module for multiplayer!

What was needed to patch?
-Scripts
-Mobiles objects
-Sectors and other map formats
-World map
-Arcanum.exe

Whats fixed in multiplayer?
-All maps are now merged into one main map
-Scripts are fixed, so they has correct location when teleporing....
-In Arcanum multiplayer, World Map is now available, its working like a teleport and teleport is now fixed, it shows World Map instead of teleporting to start location!


Now, I'm wondering whos interested in playing this?:)


I'll release converted module tomorrow, or maybe that converting tool already!:)

This'll be the best thing to happen to Arcanum since Drog blacktooths patch.

Hey there! I was surfing around aimlessly and stubled upon this site.
I'm an old arcanum player and will try to get a game togeather with my friends.

Lets hope for great success! And dont worry about it not beeing downloaded that many times. Its rather new so faar?

Yes, site is kinda new, one month running, MultiArcanum is new as well :) so yes, lets hope for getting more attention :)

Regarding MultiArcanum, when playing multiplayer only the host seems to be ablee to use the teleport.
The other players gets the usual map screen which is for fast travel(but not ablee to get anywhere).
Not sure if it's related to the error message saying Arcanum.dat cannot be found?

Wants to play it with other... but walking from town to town by foot takes to long :(

Hi there,

yes, teleporting is not completely fixed, and never will be since lack of interest in MultiArcanum from public... however, there is also a another MultiArcanum-like mod, its called UltimateArcanum and it can be found at ArcanumClub: http://forums.arcanumclub.ru/index.php?showtopic=7041. Its working, but some parts of that mod are in Russian language, like teleporting dialogs, so you better open your favourite translator :) or you could unpack that module, translate dialogs with for example noodle translator and then put it back and pack it to module...

Hi everyone!

Being the developer of what is called "UltimateArcanum", a standalone module containing the single player campaign setting and plot, I'm delighted to say that the next version that is named "TurboArcanum" that will originally be entirely in english (russian language support will be added by a patch file) is almost finished and is on internal testing now.

Theoretically you will be able to complete the main campaign and the quests should be fine in most cases (of course there will be still many possibilities to crash some of them or the game at all e.g. by trying to resolve them simultaneously with other players, but IT IS Arcanum and single player mode wasn't without a bug ;) ).

Traveling will be changed from "talking signposts" to "roadside transitions". All Arcanum locations excluding the Void are now interconnected by a network of roads with teleportation areas that are marked by small stones on the roadside. Of course most of the roads are not entirely drawn, but some of them are, including the road from Shrouded Hills to Tarant! You start traveling the road and as soon as you step on the teleportation tile you're teleported to the end of the road (that could be a town, a cave or even a crossroads), or you can bypass the teleportation area (just look for the stones on the roadside and walk off the road in this area) and travel all the way yourself!))) Anyway it is quite simple and handy and there will be signposts explaining where the roads lead to. I believe it will make the game much more realistic in terms of traveling compared to instant teleportation.

I'll do my best to bring news of module release very soon! See you all!

JUst to say me n my sis are looking for something like this but as it stands the english mod just isnt practcal, good to see its recognised as a great game. Id do some mods myself but it is buggy as hell to mod that game. :think:
